Hi Jeremy
I have looked at the census 1891, 1881 and 1871.......and the children with
the names
John, Mary Ann, Gwilym, Thomas Lewis and Maurice with the ages you gave
their parents names are
John and Catherine..........
have you given the wrong parents names, or is it a coincidence
in 1881 two other children listed who are not in 1891......
Paulne

Hi Pauline
Many thanks for your reply. In the 1911 census, Thomas Evans (my
grandfather) was single, aged 35, and living at home with his family at
"Pantygollen, Gwscwm Road", Pembrey. His profession is listed as a stone
mason. His father was Evan Evans (64), a dock gateman, his mother
Elizabeth Evans (62), and there was also his elder brother John (41),
elder sister Mary Ann (39) and younger brothers Lewis (29) and Maurice
(25).
In the 1901 census they were living at "New Cottage", Pembrey. The only
addition to the family list above was another brother, Gwilym, a copper
smelter.
In the 1891 census, they were all living at somewhere just called
"Village" in Pembrey.
Thomas married a woman called Hannah Lewis in 1913, who (I believe) was
working at the time as a housemaid at a house called Goodig.
Interestingly, there was a cook there called Margaret Jones, who I
believe married Thomas's brother Gwilym!
If you need any further information, please ask!
Best wishes
Jeremy
