Hi Chris
So pleased that you have made headway with your family......Did you see that
in 1881 census Pembrey parish that Caroline Dudley niece 17 born Llanelly
was living with Ellen Griffiths and family?
I cannot accurately locate Thomas Griffiths in 1851 but is this David and
family.....
Llanelly Boro 1851 census enu dist 1E

Island Place was not mentioned in the 1851 census....not that I can see from
my index.....it is only a very short distance from Swansea Road...
You ask where could Ann Dudley be buried....if she was of the parish
churches she could be buried in either Llanelli St Elli or St Pauls, if
non-conformist she would be buried in Box Cemetary, as these had purchased
land in Llanelly to bury people of any non-conformist denomination.
Where did you get the death information from?
Get back to me.....regards Pauline

Subject: [Cmn-L] DUDLEY Family Llanelly
First I would like to thank Pauline James for putting information on
about William Dudley and the Golden Lion.
Yesterday I received the marriage certificate for William DUDLEY, full
age, Bachelor, Tin roller, ____ cottages, Father William DUDLEY, Pickler
and Ann Griffiths, minor, Spinster, Island Home/House, Father David
GRIFFITH, Farmer. Married Parish Church after Banns on 27 December
1849. Witnesses Thomas GRIFFITH and John EVAN.
Children of William and Ann DUDLEY that I have found are
William DUDLEY born 1851 Brierly Hill, Staffordshire married 1874 at
Llanelly to Margaret RODERICK
John DUDLEY born 1853 Llanelly, married 1873 at Llanelly to Gertrude WAY
Sarah Ann DUDLEY born abt 1857 (Ystalyfera according to Census records)
Mary Jane DUDLEY born 1859 Llanelly
Elizabeth DUDLEY born 1861 Llanelly
Caroline DUDLEY born 1863 Llanelly
Rosanna DUDLEY born abt 1866 Llanelly (birth record not found)
Ellen DUDLEY born 1871 Llanelly died 1871 Llanelly
Ann DUDLEY died at Market Street on 15 Oct 1872, aged 43 years (Where
would she be buried?)
William DUDLEY died at Rogerstone Monmouth on 30 Oct 1875 aged 47 years
(son John from Llanelly being the informant. (Where is he likely to be
buried?)
Ann was born in Llanelly on all the records found so far and William was
born at Bilston, Staffordshire.
All surviving children of William and Ann DUDLEY immigrated to South
Australia on four different occasions between the years of 1876 and
1882.
I am interested on any information on the DUDLEY family as they appear
to be the only DUDLEY family living at Llanelly for some time.
I have had the 1841, 1861 and 1871 Census films in. Also found
information on the 1881 Census.
>From the census records I know that Ann had a brother Thomas born abt
1826 Llanelly, Carpenter married by 1871 to Catherine.
And a brother William born abt 1836 Llanelly, Clergyman Curate of
llanelly Church (1871 Census) married to Ellen born Manchester,
Lancashire.
Known children for William and Ellen GRIFFITHS
Florence born abt 1872 Llanelly
Gwendoline born abt 1873 Hainsham, Denbigh, Wales
Wilfred born abt 1874 Leigh, Lancashire
William H born abt 1876 Longnor, Staffordshire
Arthur born about 1878 Beaumaris, Anglessey, Wales
Llewellyn born 1881, Pembrey, Carmarthen
I would love to know which David GRIFFITH/S was the father of Thomas,
Ann and William.
Chris, New Zealand
