Hi Brynmor,
The name Argoed fach, Betws, rang a bell with me and this morning I have
been in contact with a lady named Mrs Tegwen Snowdon, who was born at the
Argoed fach farm in Betws and now farms the Penlanau farm on Mynydd y Gwair,
just south of Betws.
She told me that she knows of John Harries (aka the bard "Irlwyn" )
ex-chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council and that his son, or grandson,
now lives at Maes-y-Betws. I believe that Mrs Snowdon also has a book which
mentions the farms and their families. I have taken the liberty of
forwarding to her your following e-mail so that you can follow up your
research through her, off list, if you wish to.
Regards,
Mal Davies
