Hi
Thank you George, I am interested in your Davis line as I have a George
Davis b. 1821 who married a Helen Evans. Who knows maybe your George is an
offspring would you please send me your details
I had not thought about the Evans's maybe coming from Ireland I always
believed they were from Wales, but who knows.
My best wishes
June.

Subject: [Cmn-L] EVANS FAMILY CONNECTIONS
Hi Bob and June:
I have been following your comments and discussions of the EVANS family
with
a great deal of interest. Here's why:
My wife's father was named George EVANS Davis. He had a twin brother by the
name of Alvin Earl Davis. Earl is the family name of their mother but where
the EVANS comes from in George's name is unknown. Since it appears
customary
to give middle names based on ancestral family names I have a hunch that
the
EVANS must be from one of the maternal ancestors of the Davis family.
Unfortunately I have not been able to trace the Davis line back any farther
than to
the grandparents of George and Alvin.
We know that the Davis and Earl families are associated with other families
in Leeds County, Ontario, Canada who came from County Wexford in Ireland in
the early part of the 19th century.
George EVANS Davis always claimed he was Welsh but the Canadian census
indicates that both his father and grandfather were Irish.
I understand the the Welsh word EVANS translate into English as JOHN.
I will continue to follow your comments and findings with a great deal of
interest.
Regards...........................................George (in Ottawa)
