Hello Huw,
I couldn't resist your plea for help. I noticed on the 1871 census of
Pembrey that Ann TREHARNE age 38 was unmarried and a servant. Just below
her Phillip age 9 is listed. So, there may be a possibility that he was
illegitimate and wasn't baptized.
So, I thought I'd just take a look at Free BMD and 1837 Online. There was
nothing on Free BMD for a Phillip TREHARNE born between April 1861 (time of
the 1861 census) and June 1862 (2 mths after the 1871 census).
However, I checked on 1837 Online, and lo and behold there was Phillip. It
was the only Phillip TREHARNE (and various other spellings) born in
Carmarthenshire between the above mentioned dates.
Here is the information:
TREHARNE, Phillip JUNE/1861 Llanelly, CMN Volume: 11a Page: 606
I hope this helps!

Hello Pauline,
I told you that after reading the Pembrey Parish Anthology I would have a
problem or two. This is one with which my poor addled brain cannot cope.
Phillip Treharne.
1901 Census, age 38 years, Coal Miner Hewer.
1891 Census living in Tynewydd, Pembrey Parish, age 29, M, Coal Miner.
1881 Census living in 14 Trimsaran Row, Pembrey Parish, age 19, S, Stepson,
Coal Miner.
1871 Census living in Bird in Hand, (assume Pembrey Parish), age 9, Servant.
1861 Census clearly no trace as not born.
How do I go about finding his true parents? Will one be shown on his
marriage (I don't have a clue of a date) certificate? As he was born abt
1862 will there be a birth certificate?
The solution may be quite straight forward but I cannot see the wood for the
trees.
The CD is brilliant: very interesting and great fun to read. Regards Huw L.
