1742 16th April Llandeilo fawr parish church
Thomas Edward and Mary Powell were married
at this time it was only a list of marriage, no signatures or witnesses,
just the fact that they married....
hope this helps Pauline

Subject: [Cmn-L] Edwards family of Llandeilo fawr
Hi Pauline,
I'm back! You will recall my searches for Thomases and Davids, well now
I'm
on the track of an Edwards family. Jemima/Jemina Edwards married my
forebear David Thomas 26 July 1785 at Llandeilo fawr. Beyond this I knew
nothing of Jemima until last week when I discovered some inscriptions in a
Bible belonging to a cousin. The nature of the inscriptions and the fact
that they are interspersed in the text suggests the work of children, but
this is not to say that they are not accurate. They appear to be the work
of Jemima and (some of) her siblings:
Oppostite Title
Jemima Edwards was born July 1750
Jemina Edwards was born July 1750
Sarah Thomas the kind gift of her dear father Llwyn-y-berllan May 1830
On verso of Old Testament Title
List of the Children of William and Ann Thomas (transcribed)
Interspersed in index
Thomas Edwards Llandilo Vawr in the County of Carmarthenshire
Mary Edwards
Mary Edwards was Born in the Year of our Lord God 1746
Mary Edwards was born in the Year of our Lord Born October the 2nd 1746
Elizabeth Edwards was born in the Year of our Lord God Born in 1750 July 7
Upon seven oclock in the morning
I have checked the IGI but can find no corresponding entries. Also On
verso
of New Testament Title:
April ye 21 1715
Mary Rees Her Book
The Lord of Heaven upon her look:
but [when] her passing Bell doth toll
the Lord of Heaven receive her Soul
My days are short I must my darling part
Thou art my Guide to Heaven both hand and heart
She that those Rules will take to be her Guide
Will have great Joy And be our Saviour¹s Bride
Anno te in Cordemeo
If this was an Edwards Bible, Mary Rees might well have been a mother or
Aunt of the children.
Any clues as to what I should do next?
