Vaughan
There is a John Voss a 29 year old mariner in 1851 census living in Custom
House Bank.....
If you require Penllech Pwll Llanelli, that would be in the parish of
Pembrey, as Pwll at that time was in Pembrey parish.....
do you want the Voss household? Much easier to find ......
Pauline

Subject: [Cmn-L] The Charles Family.
It seems as if every Charles son was named John. In North America
they
might have been called John Charles Jr. II,III,IV, V etc. But to get
serious; the earliest certificate I have is for John Charles b.
Oct.24/1873. Father John Charles ( deceased ), Mother Ann Edwards
formally Griffiths. Place of birth was Ann Street, Llanelly.
The father was killed in a mining accident at St. George's Colliery
Aug.1873 The mother age 43, as per the '81 census, was born in
Llanelly. I was told by the family historian, now deceased, that the
father came from St. Clairs and had moved to Pwll, Llanelli to " keep "
Penllech Farm. It was the mother's third marriage ; She had sons
surname Rees and a daughter and son named Griffiths. She had a
grandfather called John (Jean ? ) Voss said to be a French immigrant
Mariner of whom I know little other than he had a daughter Margaret who
married George Edwards, father of the bride.
Can anyone take me back a generation or so?
Hopefully, Vaughan Lewis.
p.s. You've already done wonders with my Lewis queries.
