Dear listers
This is my first posting to this list, hello to all. I'm working on the
Welsh side of my better half's family (her grandfather left Merthyr Tydfil
and the mines in the early nineteen-thirties to move to London's East End
and work on the railways).
Her g-g-grandfather Rees PRICE was born about 1821/22 in Llangadock, Carms
(source: 1881 census) and was still living at Llangadock in 1854 (source :
his son Daniel's birth certificate, place of birth Felindre, Llangadock) and
working as a husbandman. By 1881 he was living at 23 Mount Pleasant,
Merthyr Tydfil (source: 1881 census) and working as an underground
platelayer. At some time before 1854 he married Jane EVANS, born about
1823/24 in Lampeter, Carms (source: 1881 census).
It's not known when Rees and Jane PRICE left rural Carmarthenshire for
industrial Glamorgan, certainly after 1854 and before 1881.
By 1891, Jane PRICE is a widow living with son Daniel and his family, and
by 1901 she has presumably died.
If anyone has access to the 1851 or 61 or 71 census for Llangadock, I'd be
most grateful for any trace of Rees and Jane PRICE and any family they may
have with them.
Best wishes and good hunting!
Jim in Essex
