Hi Joe
There is an entry for this house in Major Franics Jones Historic Houses of
Carmarthenshire and their families . Daniel William of Llwynywormwood had a
son, also names Daniel who became an attorney at law and lived at Green Post in
Carmarthen Town. He succeeded to Llwynywormwood. He married Anne, daughter of
John Griffies of Coed. They had a son, Erasmus who died unmarried in 1783
aged 23. Daniel Williams, the father, died in February 1785 and estate passed to
his nephew George Griffies son of the Rev. John Griffies, brother of the
attorney's wife. On inheriting he assumed the addiitional surname of Williams. On
22 May 1815 he was created a Baronet and was the builder of the early 19th
century mansion at Llwynywormwood. He was succeeded to the property and title
by his son Sir Erasmus Henry Griffies-Williams, a clergyman, who was Chancellor
of St. Davids from 1858 to his death in 1871. His estate amounted to 3627
acres. As he had no sons, the title became exxtinct, and his two daughter
became co-heiresses to Llwynywormwood, one of whom died in 1884 and the other in
1907. In 1909 the mansion was put up for sale and details of its accommodation
are then given.
The South Wales Squires by H. M. Vaughan, published in London in 1826 is
given as a source for some of the information
Thee is also some information about the Griffiths family under Coed.
Bye for now
