Hi Margaret,
Charters Towers is outside Townsville , a town north of
Brisbane by about 1000 klms Townsville is very hot but a nice place to
"visit " for a short time , and of course its full of Aussies. Are you
thinking of a visit. The Births deaths and marriages are well docunentrd
here and are available on line, but like everywhere else you must have
specific accurate info to do a valid search. If you like I can get the
specific contact details for you.
Regards
Trevor Gerard

Subject: [Cmn-L] Help from Australia?!
I know it's not strictly Carmarthenshire history, but I wondered
if someone
in Australia could point me in the right direction? I have "surfed" to no
avail..
I have a wonderfully detailed birth certificate from the district of
Kennedy in Queensland dated 1918 (not sure if that registration district
still exists?)
It mentions a marriage in 1886 in Charters Towers Queensland..(I've
managed to get some good holiday info about this place, but not a lot
else!)
Any ideas of how I could go about obtaining this marriage certificate? an
address possibly?
Hoping for help..
Hwyl
Margaret.
