GRIFFITHS - GROCER or TAILOR of KIDWELLY
I have a problem with a David GRIFFITHS baptised Kidwelly 1822. He was a
tailor when married in 1845 and living Lady Street when children were
baptised 1847/50. I believe his wife Jane died in 1850. I can't find him
on the 1851 census. The next census I have access to shows a David
Griffiths aged 60 grocer at Bridge Street and married to a Mary (James).
Is this the same David? There is a David Griffiths, grocer in Kidwelly in
Hunt's 1849 Directory and listed as grocer and draper in 1852 (Slater).
In 1868 (Slater) Griffiths brothers grocers and drapers are shown in
Bridge Street but David (bp 1822)'s only brother worked on the railway.
Any local historians out there who can unravel this please?
