My grandfather and his brothers 'adopted' their mothers maiden name to
distinguish them from the others ( all born after 1880...)
David Thomas,
Thomas Thomas
William Thomas
so they all used Harvey which was their mothers maiden name as their middle
name......but, my grandfather was then known as Dai Harvey.............as
was his brother.....his brother played in the famous Scarlets team of 1908
when they beat the Wallabies in Llanelly........he was named in the write up
not as Thomas Thomas but Tom Harvey.....or sometimes Thomas Harvey
Thomas.....
