Subject: DAVIS
I am new to this list and am researching my GGGrandmother MARY DAVIS.
Mary arrived in Tasmania (Australia) as a convict, on the "Emma Eugenia" which
left Woolwich on 24th November 1841, she was 18 and had been convicted of the theft of an
apron and a pair of stockings , She was tried at Glamorgan Quarter Sessions ,she received
7 years for this crime and was transported, she came under an assumed name of Mary Evans
and there is evidence she gave birth to a child, but no trace of this child has been
found, she later married another convict John Peter Murray and so the family
grew...........................
Mary's Mother was Elizabeth and she had two brothers John and David also a sister
Rachel ,no father listed or found so I am assuming he had passed on by the date Mary was
convicted.
I would like to find out where she came from and if there are decendants of this family.
I am on a very limited budget so any help would be very gratefully received, I am also
more than willing to share all the information I have on Mary's decendants and her
life in Australia.
thank you
