Hi Heather
In 1851 census index (CFHS indexes) Carmarthenshire, there are only 2
Taylor's in St Peters parish Carmarthen......only 11 in the whole
county.....

Subject: [CMN-L] Advice from wiser heads than mine, please
Dear List
I am trying to see if I can pin-point a name change, specifically from
TAYLOR to TAYELOR.
In 1847 Francis Macey was born in Newport as Taylor. In 1867 he married in
Carmarthen as Tayelor.
My father-in-law left family history notes, which state that Francis and
an uncle, who was a solicitor in Carmarthen, added the "e" because there
were too many Taylors and to ensure that they got their mail.
Can anyone suggest where to look, or how to verify this. I am willing to
subscribe to anything, which holds out some hope of success. I am thinking
along the lines of the uncle's will.
I know that many people might feel that I am silly to chase a family
story/ legend, but I had success in verifying something similar in my own
line, and feel it it worth a try.
Thanks for your time.
Regards
