Picking up on that point, Pauline
Aberavon seems to be hybridised Welsh as it translates as "Mouth of the
River" and as we know river is Afon so I suspect it really should be spelled
as Aberafon?
What about Welsh place names such as Abergavenny (there's that V again!)
that are translated into Welsh as Y Fenni when Abergavenny is, to all
intents and purposes, Welsh!
I need a lay down now

Hi Patty
Glad to have been able to help you........
If you type South Wales Evening Post into google it will take you to the
newspaper which is based in Swansea, they have a contact email
address......
This newspaper covers a wide area.......so this would be your best
bet.......I once put an advert there and found living relatives....
What Rhodri was saying is correct, there is no 'V' in the welsh alphabet,
but as we know the 'v' is used.......
We do and spell say Aberavon, and Cwmavon etc etc......and yes it is
Davies and Davis.......
Unless someone else can say which newspaper to use....
Pauline
