Hello again Pauline - I have just been on ancestry and found Margaret
through from 1861 to 1891 (when she was a widow). John Hopkin had
changed from a collier (very sensible) to being a farmer by 1871 Tyr Panl
Farm house in Borough. They only had one daughter called Ann which I
thought great but then realised that in the 1851 census they had John
Hopkins mother with them who was called Ann so that was a non starter for
the mother of Margaret.
On the censuses the birth year for Margaret was consistent with 1823/1824 so
I have been looking for a marriage date too late and it should have been a
marriage for her parents around 1822. If Margaret was a minor (?whatever
that is) in 1841 when she married and she was born in 1823 she would have
been aged 18 when she was married hardly a minor! Also it means that the
1841 census with her aged 15 cannot be right unless the census is wrong and
she was aged 18.
I was hoping that maybe some siblings would have been with them on some of
the censuses but no such luck!
I have emailed Carmarthenshire archives to ask for the parents of the JW
1835 you gave me.
Any ideas??
Diana
