Hi Catrin,
I'm afraid extending the catchment area to include Llangennech would involve
years more research. My mother was from the Allt, and perhaps at some future
date Llangennech will feature in a future publication.
the Parlas houses at the junction of Glynhir, Alltiago and Caecerrig roads
are still standing and occupied. Its a strange coincidence that my paternal
g. grandfather occupied one of them in 1881. He is reocrded in the 1881
census as Daniel Thomas, weaver, age 59, born Llanarthney. He is listed
with his wife Eleanor and his two sons Evan and William. William (my
grandfather) later moved to Coedbach Road.
small world isn't it :-)
Best wishes
Deric.

You wouldn't like to extend this to Llangennech as well would you !! My
great grandfather was the publican at The Farmers Arms in Llangennech at
the end of the 1890's and I'd love to see some old photos from that era.
Also as you probably know Pontardulais well can you tell me if there is a
group of houses known as Parlas around the junction of Caecerrig Rd,
Alltiago Rd and Glynhir Rd still in existance.
Thanks
Catrin
