Dear Diana,
My thanks to you for sharing this information as I was considering signing
up to ancestry but had my doubts, given similar experiences ages ago.
Have you looked into
www.1837online.com;
www.oroginsnetwork.com; and
www.thegenealogist.co.uk ?
I think I will just continue with visits to the records offices, which are
much more enjoyable :)
Happy St. David's Day :)
Diane

Ancestry.com
Hello Pauline- just a word of warning about
ancestry.com My
bank
sent me a letter yesterday to tell me that there had been some fraudulent
attempt on my credit card. They told me that even though I had changed
the card numbers not only for my credit card but also for my debit card to
stop
ancestry.com taking any more money out of my account that ancestry were
trying to do so. My bank had picked up on ancestry and when I telephoned
them they said that they always blocked any payments to
ancestry.com because
of fraud. Now I do not know the details of what is going on.
I have been very pleased with all the informaiton that I have found on
ancestry.com website but I had heard about this fraudlent activity last year
which was why I changed my card numbers. It is obviously up to you if you
join but I am glad to have stopped belonging to their site.
Diana
