Hello Listers,
I am new to this list but I understand that I may be able to find information about my
Welsh family in several counties.
I have VAUGHANS in Dukestown ,Tredegar, Monmouth, and Harris (variations Harriss or
Harries) who came from Trelach,Carmarthenshire and settled in Treorchy Rhondda.
I am most interested in ,
David VAUGHAN b,1866 Tredegar Mon
Margaret VAUGHAN (Phillips) b.Nantyburch(?) Breconshire 1866
Married David VAUGHAN 2nd. Aug 1885 Bedwelty Reg. Office
Children
James b.1885 Brecon
Catherine b.1888 Tredegar (my grandmother)
Daniel b.1890 Tredegar
John b.1892 Tredegar
David died of TB 10 Apr. 1894 in Dukestown leaving this very young family. Margaret was
widowed at the age of 29.
Does anyone know if it is possible to find out how the family would have survived
financially given the ages of the children?
i know that in 1901 they were living in FEEDER HOUSES< Dukestown. Does anyone know if
this was some kind of poorhouse?
I would be most grateful for any insight into the living conditions and fate of the young
family.
Thank you Val
