Hi Karen
Do you have a fathers name for John as perhaps he did not go by John Mathias
Jones, but by John Jones, which makes the task much harder.
Do you have his place of birth in any census returns?
any info no matter how small may assist in finding him - especially as they
were not in Wales for 1851

Subject: [CMN-L] Jones Family
Hi All
Hoping SKS will be able to help me with my Jones family.
JOHN MATHIAS JONES born abt 1813 Carmarthen Wales
married June 1845 in Barnet
ANN MARIA ALLCHIN born 25/04/1851
Children that I know of:
CHRISTOPHER THOMAS JONES born 13/08/1847 Islington East London
married 1879 St Johns Melbourne Australia
SELINA ANN LEE born abt 1856 Devonshire England
John Mathias was a "Silk Merchant or Warehouseman" and appears on the 1861
England Census as a boarder at 47 Argyle Square ??? Road St Pancras with
his son Christopher, no sign of Ann.
Ann appears on the 1871 England Census as a widow living with a servant at
3 ??? Villas Islington.
Christopher ran away to sea sometime after 1861 he joined the Royal Navy
then jumped ship in Australia and joined the Victorian Navy serving in
HMVS Cerebus.
I have been told by family that Christopher had at least one sister but
have been unable to find any record of her or any other siblings. I am
also looking for the deaths of John Mathias and Ann Maria.
If anyone could help with information, I would greatly appreciate it.
Regards
Karen
