Hi Sandie,
The Cui Lodge that Barry mentioned was the farm my G/grandfather Richard
Duckett, purchased around 1950, it was called Kiwi Lodge at that time, and he
changed it's name to Sunny Side. I believe it is now called Heulwen. I have a
photo of this place if your interested.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Regards
Yvonne
Hi Sandie,
I have been researching my wife's Hopkins people for some time
and her
grandfather John Henry Hopkins was born at Cui Lodge, that's CUI lodge
which
is on the road from FFairfach to Ammanford and also near Glancennen Farm on
the opposite side of the road. Her g.grandfather John Hopkins was farming at
Glancennen in 1881. Cui Lodge is still there and at the back of the house is
an older building which is probably where your Evan was connected.
Regards.
Barry Melville

Subject: [CMN-L] Glanaman mystery
Thanks to Penri. I suspected that Glanaman was a village name. The
mystery
is, that if GGG GF Evan Thomas was a farmer in 1813, why doesn't the name
of
where he farmed appear in the Llandybie Parish Church register when his
daughter, Lettice, was baptised? The census of 1841 has her living at a
place called Cue Lodge with her mother, Mary. Can't find Cue House, let
alone lodge and neither are mentioned in the History of Llandybie.
Thickening plot
