Many thanks to the people who have been helping me with Lettice/Cui Lodge.I
have been replying off board. There are further mysteries. Lettice Rees of
Cui Lodge married William Williams (my GG GF) in Dec 1841 at Llandeilo Fawr
parish church. He was the son of Gwynfe farmer, Griffith Williams of
Newfoundland. The Williams men were long concerned with cattle and cattle
dealing.
1. The church register entry gives Griffith's occupation as butcher. Could
this be the vagaries of the vicar?
2. William's abode is given as Fairfach Lodge. Try as I might I can find no
record of this place anywhere.
By 1851 Lettice and William were living at Love Lodge (Llety
Gariad) at Fairfach, Llandeilo Fawr where the family remained for over 60
years. In 1841 Love Lodge was occupiend by young farming family called
Thomas. I wonder what happened to them?
I am really enjoying this splendid message board but can't
figure out how to join Carmarthenshire FHS online or by snail mail. What's
the difference between Carmarthenshire FHS and the message board?
Regards to all
Sandie
