The 1840era Rebecca riots in the Llanelli area were a subset of the rioting in South Wales
driven by social grievances; the resulting trials had many pages of depositions where
rioters and witnesses were identified. I have listed BELOW some of the identified persons
by name and abode, this is only the Llanelly, Pembrey and Five Roads riots.
If you recognize an ancestor by name and abode let me know and I will e-mail you the
page where they are mentioned.
(My 4 g grandfather Aaron Jenkins and his sons Evan and William were part of it)
The lists start with the respectable farmers who made a famous Resolution against the
"authorities" on Mynydd Sylen in Aug 1843, then the rioters and persons who
were witnesses and last a few of the victims. The parishes are mostly Llanelly, Llanon
& Pembrey.
