Hello again Gaynor
Yes you are on the right track , the family at 18 Mill street,
Carmarthen which you probably found in the 1881 census is the right one.
In 1891 John Scourfield is shown as a lodger in 28 Stanley Street,
Llanelly.
The Henry Scourfield shown as a boarder in the 1901 census in Waunwen is
actually John's brother - I have often found a family member shown as
boarder or lodger without any sign of the family relationship.
In 1891 John's family is in Carmarthen
His father Henry and two uncles were all christened in the parish church
in LLanllwch.

John Scourfield, the father , was buried in Llanllwch on July 14 1853
aged 79.
The visitor Catherine Williams from Flintshire in North Wales is quite
intriguing as she seems to have stayed for years with the family.
Do you know anything of her?
You did say you had some family information that didn't fit - can you
tell me what it was?
I think this is enough for one e-mail.
let me know what you think - can you access all the census - or would
you like me tp send you some?
All for now
Pat

Hallo Pat
Many thanks for your response. In fact, just this
evening I've found some information which was under
"Scowrfield" and which got me going in the right
direction. In fact, I now believe that Ann Evans was
the daughter of John Evans of Pentrefenter,
Llangathen, and his wife Elizabeth Phillips. I still
have nothing on John Scourfield's own antecedents
though and no record of his marriage to Ann Evans.
So many of the Scourfields seem to hail from
Pembrokeshire or west of Carmarthen although I found a
family in Mill Street, Carmarthen, which may or may
not be the right one.
I'm doing this mainly for my mum's cousin in
California, who is the grand-daughter of John
Scourfield, and partly to extend my Ancestry site of
course.
I'd be grateful if you have anything which might
enlighten me!
Thanks and best regards.
