Pauline,
Thought I would share a bit of success. I had a great deal of difficulty trying to trace
what happened to my grandfather's sister Ann Francis born in St Clears in 1831. When I
checked on Joseph Francis' 1891 England census record, I found an Edith Hill age 20
born in Swansea listed as a niece. By going back to 1871 Wales census I discovered an Ann
born in St Clears wife to Thomas Hill with a child named Edith. I then found their
marriage in Swansea in 1857. This lead produced a whole new family line. It just proves
that one little clue such as a niece on a census can open up so many windows. I still have
a long way to go and what started in St Clears, has spread to searches for Francis
descendants in Swansea, Neath, Llanelly,Penderyn and Aberdare.
Thanks to you Pauline for past advice and I wish you and all the Carmarthenshire listers a
very happy 2008.
