Hi John
Yes, of course your request is appropriate.
I have the IGI on fiche as it is clearer to understand (I feel so
anyway)....the baptism you mention is not from a register, but which was
added to the IGI by a relative - or a person researching the family, so it
seems that there is no concrete evidence of these facts. It stated that the
baptism took place in Llansadwrn.
I have a few marriages around that area at the time you stipulated.
1779 a Morgan Morgan of Llandeilo fawr to Mary Williams of Llandebie in
Llandebie parish church
1780 Morgan Morgan of Cilycwm and Mary Morgan of Mothvey/Myddfai in Mothvey
parish
1784 Morgan Morgans a Carpenter and Mary David both of Cilycwm
as you can imagine there are lots of Morgan Morgan/s in the area

Subject: [CMN-L] Nathaniel MORGAN
Dear Subscribers
I am new to the list and I trust that my request is completely
appropriate. I am desperately searching for information on Nathaniel
MORGAN (see below), amongst others his place of birth, the names of his
parents or family and any other information that may be available. I
noted on the IGI records of the LDS family search website, a MORGAN
family who lived in Carmarthen, Wales. The family is listed as Morgan
MORGAN (about 1759) married about 1784 to Mary (born about 1763) and
children John (about 1785), Thomas (about 1787), David (about 1789) and
Nathaniel (about 1791). Could it be possible be that the Nathaniel I am
researching is the same as the Nathaniel mentioned here?
I will appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide.
“I am researching a certain Nathaniel MORGAN born 9 February 1793. His
place of birth is unknown, though family folklore claims it to be in
Wales. Nathaniel joined the military in 1814 (Commissioned Officers in
the Medical Service of the British Army 1660 - 1960 - volume 1, 1660 –
1898), starting his career in the HA (Horse Artillery?) on 4 April 1814.
Thereafter he is shown as Assistant Surgeon 25th Regiment of Foot on 28
September 1815. He is shown as being on half pay whilst serving in the
81st Regiment of Foot on 25 August 1816. On 13 November 1819 he married
Mary SADLER (born 22 November 1796 - died 18 April 1847 Cape, South
Africa) in St Ann’s Blackfriars, London. They lived in 19 Shoemakers
Row, Blackfriars, London at the time. During December 1819 he and Mary
lead a group of 41 people to the Cape (South Africa) as part of a
Government Emigration Incentive (known as 1820 Settlers). Soon after
reaching the Cape, he again joined the military. He is next shown as
serving on the "Staff" on 5th November 1824, and then as a Surgeon with
the 91st Regiment of Foot on 9th August 1839. The next entry is for that
of his death which is shown at the 23rd October 1842 at the Cape of Good
Hope. These records can also be seen in the Officer's Service Records
19th & 20th century held in the AMS Museum, entry 745.”
Kind regards
John Morgan
