Hi Dwight, In researching a different part of my family where there were a
lot of people with the same surname in a village, I created a spreadsheet
with sets of columns for Names Birthdates, marriage, death and went through
the census's from 1841 building up a picture. I still have a
red-highlighted square saying "prove this" linking one set of columns to
the next where I cannot find proof of my Ancestors parents, but I know
where she wasn't, if that makes sense. An added complication for me is
that a witness at her wedding had the same Christian names to make it more
difficult. I ended up adding a code for which small village an event
occurred.
Not sure if this will help, but it has helped me. I may have to do it for
the Thomas's of Llanelli as two generations of grandparents came from there!
Cheers,
Peter M.

To anyone who can help...
I know that Rees and Ann Thomas married in 1852 at Pembrey and that they
moved to Llanelli soon thereafter. They moved to Canada in 1857. Rees
worked as a "calciner" and their daughter, Margaret, was born in
"Wern."
They recorded Rees' father's will in 1854 at Llanelli so it appears they
were living there during those five years. Is there some way to know more
specifically where they might have lived in Llanelli during those years?
Were records kept of the workers or the inhabitants? If they lived in Wern,
where is it likely that Rees was working?
I'll be glad for any help or suggestions.
