Hello Dwight,
I too would like to learn more about Welsh customs in the 19th century. I'm
not sure how relevant they are to your Thomas family, but below are some
articles that may be of interest. Most are on-line (google-digitized or
internet-archive). I can send PDF's of the articles below to anyone by
request, for personal use.
1869. Welsh Marriages. Pp. 80-104 (Ch3) In: the Wedding Day in All Ages

P.S. The 1891 reference above has snippets (from bidding invitations) that
may be of interest to someone about a Thomas family and a Parry family of
Carmarthenshire. 1) Thomas -- John Thomas married Mary Thomas in 1833 in
Carmarthen. Mary's mother was Mary Rees and her grandmother Charlotte
Rees.
John's father and mother are William & Harriet Thomas, and his brother and
sister are George & Mary Thomas. 2) Parry -- Emiah Parry, youngest
daughter of William Parry of Llethrach, Carmarthenshire, was married in
1832. Two of her siblings are Charles and Benjamin Parry.

Subject: [CMN-L] 19th Century Welsh wedding customs
I am working on our Thomas history and wondering about 19th century Welsh
wedding customs. Our ancestors were married Pembrey in 1852. I'm wondering
what their wedding would have been like. My questions are:
1) Would they have married at home?
2) What might the ceremony have looked like?
3) Were there special dress expectations or was there special wedding food?
etc.
4) Does anyone know of a good source of information related to mid-19th
century wedding customs?
