On a roll at the moment.....sorry its all in drips and drabs.....
I looked at Baptisms in Aberavon St Mary parish church
1849 4th April - Dan Davies, father Dan a tailor mother Maria, Aberavon
1851 11th May - Theophilus Davies, father Dan a tailor mother Mariah,
Aberavon aged 6 years old
1851 11th May - David Davies, father Dan a tailor mother Mariah, Aberavon
the ones for Theo and David is a joint baptism, Theophilus being 6 years
old......wonder why Dan was baptised in 1849 and Theo was not.....
No other baptisms in Aberavon for the other children....

Hello Pauline.
Thank you for responding to my query. I'd like to determine if I have
any
living relatives in Wales, but to do that, I need to trace back to my gr
gr
gr grandparents, Daniel Davies (tailor by trade) & Maria Davies. My gr gr
grandfather, Rev. Theophilus Davies, was the oldest of their 5 children.
It's those other 4 children I would need to trace to determine if living
relatives remain in Wales. Theophilus documented his life well in his
journal, but neglected to identify his other siblings, so I don't know
their
names or if any of them came to America, too. Theophilus was born in
Aberavon, Glamorganshire. When his father died, Theophilus was 8 & became
head of household, beginning work as a farm boy, then progressing to work
in
Cwmavon in the iron mill. Do you have any suggestions on how I might
attempt
to locate names of his siblings with the end result of finding my living
Welsh relatives? My mother was so passionate about her Welsh heritage & I
never fully understood until we began having family reunions in 2001. My
mother died in 1993, so sadly, she never benefitted from the wealth of
information the internet has to offer, but she did get to visit Wales.
Now I want to learn as much as possible for myself, but for my mother's
memory.
Thanks for "listening".
