Hello Jan
Let me know which census info you want and maybe I could help.
This is some of the bits of information I have plus some rather vague
theories with little proof at the moment.
I have just received the page from the parish register that shows the
marriage of Thomas Thomas, Farmer of Llangan to Anna Scourfield,
spinster also of Llangan on the 26 April 1817.
Witnesses were David lewis and David William and Theophilus Morgan.
Thomas Thomas signed his name , Anna made her mark.
I can send you a scan of it if you like.
I am quite interested , especially with the presence of Theophilus
Morgan because of the following.
There is a will of Thomas Scourfield of Blaenwaernddu in Llangan dated
1808 in which all his personal estate was left in trust to James
Scourfield and Theophilus Morgan for the following purpose:-
The sum of twenty pounds to Phoebe his daughter.
The rest of his estate to his wife and daughter Hannah - but if his wife
should marry again then the whole of his estate should go to his
daughter Hannah.
I believe the james Scourfield was the brother of Thomas Scourfield but
the interesting bit is the trustee Theophilus Morgan and the daughter
Hannah.
I have often found Hannah and Anna interechanged in records - so I am
wondering if this is the same girl who is marrying in 1817.
The 1851 census shows Anna Thomas to be 52 so she would be about 18 when
she married and about 9 when her father died - if that Thomas Scourfield
was her father. That would explain the need for things to be held in
trust.
This may all be completely incorrect but I thought I'd tell you just in
case you find some of it fits some time in the future.
In the 1871 census Anna is shown as 74 so that adds a couple of years.
She dies sometime between 1871 and 1881.
That's all for now.
let me know if I can help with census information
Cheers
Pat

I am sure this is my family because I remember my gran talking about
the name
Scourfield,BUT Thomas Thomas is not down on the 1841 census,he was named on his
son,s marriage certificate 'Benjamin' date being 1873. It did not say he was
deceased. Would you know if it usually says if the father has died.
I would like to open up more census dates, I do not mind paying but I am
a bit nervous of paying to the wrong site.
Thanks for your help
