Hi Pauline, Anna, Sian
I today received some more information very kindly from Paul Vivash on Aaron Roberts as
follows -:
From Crockford's Clerical Directory 1883
Llangadock Vawr,
Carmarthenshire
Jesus College, Oxford BA 1857
MA 1860
Ordained Deacon 1858
" Priest 1860 by the Bishop of St David's
Vicar of Llangadock Vawr with Llanddeusant in St David's Diocese 1878
Patron: The Master of Lampeter Grammar School
Gross Income £335
Population: Llangadock 1,944
Llanddeusant 703
Formerly Curate of St Peter's, Carmarthen 1858-1861
Vicar of Newchurch, Carmarthenshire and Chaplain of the Co. Pris. (presumably County
Prison), Carmarthen 1861-1878
Another contact discovered the following from the NLW -:
He leased a messuage/tenement called Llanygorse farm, Llangunnock,Carmarthen, from Anna
Jane Lort Phillips and Connor, Bishop of St Davids. This must have been in late 1857 or
1858 as when he was licensed as Perpetual Curate of Newchurch on the 8th March 1861 the
following people vouched for his suitability for the Post having known him for three
years:- Thomas Beavan, Vicar of St Peters, Carmarthen, David Richard Williams, Vicar of St
Davids, Carmarthen and J Griffiths, Vicar of Llangunnor. On his appointment to Newchurch
the farm was re-leased to John Lewis, Waun Iago.
Anna Jane Lort Phillips of East Hook Pembrokeshire,(and temporarily resident in France)
was patron of the perpetual curacy of Newchurch.
In 1873 he was issued with a Monition by the Bishop of Saint Davids, which stated that he
was not fulfilling his undertaking to reside in the Parish of Newchurch in the house
provided. This official document was delivered to him at his own house in 9 Mansel Street,
Carmarthen
So I now have quite a lot of information but no burial place. I don't know whether the
above give any clues.Any further help will be appreciated at any time
Thank you all for your assistance
