2nd jan - Very cold and windy , few children present
12 Jan - Thomas Edmunds and Willie Rowlands readmitted having been absent over 2 months ,
one with a burnt face and the other with a broken arm.
28th Jan - very rough and wet.
2 feb - Dr J Raglan Thomas , sanitary medical officer , visited owing to scarletina raging
in the district and suggested that the school should be closed for a time after consulting
with the managers.
5th Feb - school closed by managers owing to prevalence of scarletina.
20th April - Commenced school ,having been closed for 10 weeks.
24th april - only 10 present.
5th may - Sarah Jones appointed monitress.
4th June - The visiting officer found that some of the children who had been ill had not
returned to school.
11th June - older children kept home for digging about potatoes.
22 June - Standard 1 very backward in reading , several not even knowing their letters.
17th aug - Older children kept home for haymaking.
19th aug - Too few children present to mark the register. quarterly meeting at Horeb
Baptist Church.
25th August - Children taught the song " Love at Home" .
27th Aug - Miss A. Williams assistant mistress Gower Rd visited.
8th Sept - Monitress S. Jones given permission to stay home as mother ill .
18th sept - harvest.
29th Sept - very wet .
1st Oct - Llanelly fair.
2nd Oct - Tom Jones and Lizzie Thomas very slow in learning.
Inspector's report - There has been much sickness in the neighbourhood and the school
has been closed for some time. The school can be classed as in a very fair condition.D.
Hughes's name has been removed from the register of pupil teachers serving this
school. S. Jones failure. Mary A. Williams certificated teacher.
12 Oct - admitted new pupil Sarah George.
9th Nov - Dry day . Few present as children kept home for drawing potatoes. Still without
a teacher.
14th Dec - Miss Owens commenced her duties today as assistant mistress,
24th Dec - closed for Christmas.
28th Dec - Rough day. Few present.
