Hi Moyna,
If you go to
http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1475803, you will see a photo
of Seion Baptist Chapel. I would guess that the small building in the
foreground, obviously the vestry, could be Seion Lodge. At that time it was
common practice for families to live in the vestry with a room kept for
vestry business. My grandparents were living in Elim Chapel, Llanddowror's
vestry in the 1901 census, with an upstairs room used for vestry business -
reached by an outside stone staircase. The only other candidate for Seion
Lodge would be the house further down the road. There are no houses close on
the nearer side. There is quite a large graveyard attached to the chapel.
The Swan Inn is in the centre of St Clears, just down the road from the
Chapel.
Hope this is some help to you,
Regards,
Elizabeth.

Pauline..William John Davies married by licence in the register
office
Carmarthen on 13th October 1903. He was aged 19 and neither he nor his
bride, Florence Rose, had any members of their families as witnesses,
which
makes me wonder whether they had gone off to the register office to get
married without their parents' knowledge. Both gave St Clears as their
residence..(William at the Swan Hotel)
I have William J living with a Joseph Davies and family in St Clears in
1891
and 1901. In 1901 the Davis family was living in Sion Lodge, next door to
the Sion Baptist chapel. Perhaps William was baptised there? Is it
possible
to check there?
William J had several siblings..among them Esther born about 1890, Amy c
1887 and Hannah c 1882, (as well as other older ones). Would you be able
to
see if any of these were baptised? If none of them were then it looks as
they must have been baptised in one of the chapels, probably the Baptist.
Would Sion Lodge be attached to the Sion chapel?
With thanks again for your help Pauline, regards Moyna
