Dear Sylvia
Many thanks for your seasonal greetings. In return I send my best
wishes for Christmas and for every sucess with your indexing in 2010.
I have at last succumbed to a subscription to TheGenealogist databases
and the 1911 census on findmypast. The latter works out cheaper if you
want more than 15 entries which I most certainly do. However the
inndexing on both is atrocious. With the indexes prepared by local
folk, such as yourself and those in Dyfed FHs checking the 1881 census,
finding unusual surnames was a simple task. It is quqite a different
matter with the foreigh indexing used by the commercial sites. I
struggle to find my Furlongs who have left Pembrokeshire. Goodness
knows what they are indexed under. I have been able to find their
deaths some time after the various censuses in which I cannot trace
them. I have been having great fun with Skyrmes indexed vatiously as
Skeme, Sligers and even Hughes! I have given up sending correction emails.
Manay thanks for your assistance with queries this year and in the past
Warmest good wishes
Joy
