Hi List,
Its been some time since I was subscribed here, & thank you Pauline for
helping me out so many times.
I particularly wanted to thank Bryan Richards who many years ago helped me
find the place where my ancestor Amy Lewis nee Evans lived in 1851 to 1871
.[Tan y lan.]
I finally managed to have a holiday in Carmarthenshire last week, & lo &
behold , Bryans map helped me enormously.
There, in a field ,where the original lane to her cottage has returned to
nature, was the remains of a stone cottage , half a wall really, but I stood
next to it & looked at the stunning view, & thought to myself , my ancestor
looked at this view too, all those years ago!
I was quite overwhelmed by my feelings & took many photos.
Bryan , you told me your ancestor lived in the house called Cwmbyr, well it
is still there & occupied by a lovely gentleman who pointed me in the right
direction to find Tan y lan.
The other dwelling named on the 1871 census is also still standing &
occupied.
Namely Pant yr onen.
I hope you are still subscribed here Bryan , but if not , just to let
everyone here know , that these so helpful people are the best, Thank you
all so much.
Jackie now living in East Sussex.
