Hi Pauline
Thanks for getting back to me. I should read these things more carefully. I
read your extract in a rush and on the initial read I thought the 50th
anniversary was in 1869 not the marriage and also got my centuries mixed up,
a total mess! Apologies. Nevertheless if you have any potential info which
might give leads to a the parentage of a James Maddocks from the Llanarthey/
Llanon area born around 1725 and married around 1751 then I would be
interested.
I would be even more interested in anything you may have on Lodwick history
from your friend and whether he has any knowledge of instances of surname
change. As stated in my previous E-Mail I am particularly interested in
Rachel Lodwick born about 1806 Llanarthney with parents possibly David
Lodwick and Emiah Thomas. However although everything points to her being a
Lodwick on her children's birth certificates she gives her surname as Lott.
Rachel married a Thomas Bowen. Rachel lived in Cillay Fach, Killay,
Llanddarog in 1841, Ty Rhod, Llanon in 1851, 5 Wheel Row Llanon in 1861,
Pant y clatses Row Llanon in 1871, Tairhod in 1881, and 5 Wheel Row Llanon
in 1891. My research leads me to believe the Llanon addresses were all the
same place! Most of her known children were born in Llanddarog between 1833
and 1845, except for my 2nd great grandmother Mary Bowen born in Bank
Ffoesfelin Llangendeirne in 1848.
Finally if you are able to find anything about the parentage of Martha
Lodewich (abt 1725-1794) who married James Maddox (abt 1724-1807) in
about 1750 that would also be great.
Thanks
Roy
