Hi Mike
If Mary gives her father as cabinet maker this is her.....
Carmarthen St Peters
1819 12th December
Mary Owen dau of John and Anne, St Peter Street, cabinetmaker
1822 6th Jan
Elizabeth Owen dau John and Anne, Spilman Streeet, cabinetmaker
I can see no others baptised to these two.....no James, but as you stated
they moved to Bristol soon after....
i too have both marriages that you state........one in 1817 to Anne Thomas
the other in February 1819 to Anne Cadwallader........the latter could also
be the one, as the child normally came very quickly after the wedding.......
I will look in the earlier baoptisms for John for you....
Also sending this direct.....will you let me know if you can see his on this
list...
thanks Pauline

Subject: [CMN-L] OWEN in Carmarthen
Hi Pauline and others,
At last a few minutes to seek help on my OWEN research if possible.
My paternal granny's cousin was a very famous music hall star from
Worcester, Vesta Tilley, and my great grandfather Alfred BROUGHTON,
Vesta's
maternal uncle, married a young button maker in her family's household
called Amelia BRIDGES when his first wide died and I am descended from
her.
I tracked Amelia's birth to Bristol where she married John BRIDGES and
traced them through various censuses over to London and back to Worcester.
I also discovered that her mother was Mary OWEN born in Carmarthen about
1820. In turn, her parents were John OWEN, Cabinet maker, and his wife,
Ann,
also
from Carmarthen. They were born about 1797 & 8 respectively and the family
obviously migrated across to Bristol about 1824, shortly after the birth
of
their second child James. The last 5 children out of a total of 7 were
born
in Bristol. Mary was the eldest and the last child was Tudor OWEN born in
1840.
In the 1871 census Mary's birthplace is listed as 'St Mary's par
Carmarthen'. So the first question is about the location of what I take to
be a parish. Can anyone help? I have no knowledge of Carmarthen at all.
And
is there any way I can search their address?
Second, I have found a parish record in the IGI relating to the marriage
of
a John OWEN & Ann THOMAS on 4 November 1817, St Peter's in Carmarthen.
Could
this be them?
There is another marriage between a John OWEN and Ann CADWALLADER 2
February
1819, though I favour the earlier one.
Also, there is a Mary OWEN christened 12 December 12 December 1819 at St
Peter's. Is there any way I can check the parents? Thanks.
Cheers,
Mike
