Hello Doug
Laugharne is a parish of Carmarthenshire as is St Clears, Before 1837 there
were no registration districts as such, each Baptism, Burial, and Marriage was
recorded in the Parish Register, and Bishops transcripts were sent to the
Bishop of the diocese on a yearly basis.
After 1837 when the registration districts were adopted throughout the country
of England & Wales registration districts were set up to register the said
Baptisms, Burials and Marriages.
Registration District 26, covered the counties of Pembrokeshire,
Carmarthenshire, glamorganshire, Monmouthshire Part of Breconshire,
Herefordshire and part of Worcestershire, District 27 covered Cardiganshire
and the rest of Wales (not really posative of all the Counties).
These districts lasted until 1851 when the District no 26 changed to district
11a, with a few boundary changes, 27 changed to 11b.
Carmarthenshire was coverd by Carmarthen, Llanelli, Llandovery(probably later)
and in the north Newcastle Emlyn.
I hope this answers your question, If anyone can elaborate on these questions,
please do.
Regards
Richard James
