Hello, Pauline,
I have had no feedback for sometime, Pauline, but I guess this has been
caused by the recent crash of your hard drive and problems with changing
servers. Hope everything is now O.K.
You had mentioned when we last spoke that you had burials for Pembrey
and most Census returns for Pembrey/Burry Port. Would you be kind enough
to see if you can find the deaths of WILLIAM ROWLAND/S, stonemason, and
his wife ANN(E?) nee GRIFFITHS and their place of burial, please?
(Examination of St. Catherine's Index failed to separate them from the
crowd!)
(This couple are my "brick wall" on my ROWLAND'S line).
If it is not too much trouble, could you find them in the 1861 and 1871
Census, too please.
I found them in 1841 at Mile St., Aberdare with children Jane, William,
Edward and John. In 1851 William and son William, a mason's apprentice,
were at Gadlys, Aberdare, but I have not been able to find Ann or the
other 3 children. In 1881 Census William is at daughter Jane's residence,
Albert St., Aberdare and if I have the correct Ann ROWLAND/S, aged 70,
she was in Pembrey in 1881.
WILLIAM gives as his place of birth St. Mellon's, Monmouthshire or just
Monmouthshire on the Census records that I have been able to look at but,
to date, I have been unable to find his birth/baptism entry. He married
Ann at Pembrey and seems to have followed work between Aberdare and
Pembrey. Children Jane and William were baptised at Jerusalem Independent
Congregational Chapel, Burry Port but I have no information on other
children, Edward and John.
Hoping you can find WILLIAM and ANN for me,
Kind regards,
Cynthia Collison (nee ROWLANDS)
