Hi Pauline, The only census info I have is the following:
Rees, James PA ALLEGHENY CO. 1 W.PITTSBURGH 001 1860 census
Rees, Jane PA ALLEGHENY CO. TEMPERANCEVILLE BO 516 1860
Info regarding the family arrival is from the "Pittsburgh of Today" page 524
as
follows:
Capt. "Jim" Rees, as he was best known to his familiars, was a
conspicuous
figure In the Industrial annals of Pittsburgh. He was born on Christmas Day,
1821, in Wales, and came to this country at an early age with his parents. Like
all young men at that time his educational advantages were limited. He learned
the trade of machinist with John M. Snowden, then a prominent and almost the only
founder and machinist in the city. He.subsequently entered Into partnership with
his former master, and still later the firm was Rees,Hague, Hartupee & Co.; then
Rees & Hartupee, and afterwards Rees & Thorn.
In "History of Pittsburgh" page 1037 the families arrival in the US is listed
as follows:In 1827 a family of Welsh immigrants, consisting of a father, mother,
and 9 children arrived in America from their native land. James Rees was then in
his seventh year, having been born Dec.25th, 1821. They settled in a small town
near Wheeling, Virginia , St.Clairsville, Ohio where the father died within a
week. James soon after went to work to learn the trade of shoemaking, but left
this to work on a farm. The family, however moved to Pittsburgh.

Hello George Alan Jones
Thanks for your e-mail - I have looked through the IGI for these people -
don't think that with the information given you will have much luck .....
I have a James Rees baptised 25-12-1821 to a Thomas Rees and Mary Bowen in
Carmarthen
I do not have one for Jane with the same parents - there are various other
ones, but not the ones required
The IGI has Llanedi covered by B.T's 96% 1738-1862 - Ebenezer Cal. Meth
1812-1837 and Llanedi Newhouse Independent from 1734-1837
I have a baptism for a Jane Rees in 1810 from Newhouse Indendent, father Rees
Rees.
I would recommend viewing the original parish registers for Llanedi to see if
these people baptised their children, maybe they baptised them all in one go.
I had one like that that I posted onto the list a few weeks ago. It was a
whole family being baptised together, and the vicar had made a note that
these people were leaving for America the following day.
You never know - you are pre census - where did they say they were from in
the census you have them in? Do you have any census returns for them? If
you have more information perhaps we could find them
Speak soon
Pauline
