Well, I 'm glad to know where Newcastle Emlyn IS!!. Now I at least know
where to look. Sorry to say, I don't have much information to go on. Her
name was Mary Griffiths. She was b. abt 1823/4 in Newcastle Emlyn. She
married William Rees. The marriage could have been pre-1837, but most
likely it was 1838 or 9. The first child was born in Monmouth in 1840. I
don't know whether she moved to Mon. before or after her marriage. I'd love
to get a marriage or birth record so that I could learn her parents' names.
Anything you could do would be greatly appriciated.
Many many thanks,
Anne Young

Thank you, Pauline, for your excellent explanation of the offerings of
your
group. At this point, I'm not even sure that I have an ancestor
in
Carmarthernshire. Maybe you can tell me. This is what I know: in the
1851
census for Monmouth, I have a Mary Rees who says she was born in
Cardigan
Newcastle Emlin. (at least that's what it looks like in the census.) When
I
looked this place up in the web pages I couldn't tell whether the
registry
was in Cardigan or Carmarthenshire. Am I looking in the wrong place?
