Hello Cathay
Thanks for your e-mail - I've just had a quick look through my indexes for
the name EATON and there are quite a few instances of them from this area.
St Davids Diocese Wills from 1564-1858 have 28 Eaton's mentioned.
West Wales and Gower Marriage Bonds and Fiats 1612-1799 have 9 males and 3
females mentioned.
In Carmarthenshire marriages 1700 - 1838 - 11 males and 6 females mentioned.
As you can see, there are quite a few in this area - the marriage bonds for
the females are from 1717, 1793 and 1797. The earliest male Eaton was in
1740.
For the marriage bonds and fiats (this is where a licence was called for and
a sum of money had to be paid which is called a bond) there is an index and
we also have the abstract of the bond or fiat.

Hello All,
I'm just wondering if anyone has a listing for the last name EATON in any of
the materials that you may have available. I am interested in mid to late
1600's. I am not even sure they were from this area. Most of the published
information I have seen places them in Radnorshire in the 1680's, but a
couple of references did put them in Carmarthenshire. All the information I
have was published in the U.S. I am not having much luck at all turning
them
up in Wales. A historian in Powys thinks they might actually have been
English. This may indeed be the case, but all the information I have ever
seen on them places them in Wales.
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
