A sawyer is one who saws as an occupation. If he worked in a mine, he probably
sawed wood for supporting beams.

We proudly come from a long line of iron and mine workers and he was one of
them. He was as listed as such in the 1881 census.
Can someone out there tell me what a "sawyer" did?
