Dear Mary Jane Maulsby
Yes I did read your mail, sorry now I am answering, my son got married on
Friday so I had a few days off - I read the mail but have not answered - so
here we go.
St Peters in the Parish Church of Carmarthen parish which is the oldest Church
in Carmarthen - St Davids Church Carmarthen is linked with St Peters, this
church took over the burial records from 1841, there is also Llanllwch which
is a parish church of Carmarthen, this is not an ancient parish but was built
to take the pressure from St Peters Church.
Carmarthen Established Churches and Records are:
St Peters
baptisms 1671-1923
marriages 1671-1916
burials 1671-1885
St Davids

Llanllwch

As you can see the 3 above churches were all able to conduct marriages pre
1837 - thus they were all parish churches within one parish.

If you need any information on any of the above, I have not stated where there
are no records when the cause began etc.
As you can see Carmarthen Town had quite a few Church/Chapels for people to
visit, so to find an ancestor here, there are quite a few books to look
through. I believe since this book went to press that Carmarthen CRO has
copies of all of the records listed above on microfilm.
I hope this answers your question Mary - as you can see there are quite a lot
of registers available. I hope you will not have to order any more and that
you are lucky with the ones you have ordered.
