Hi Pauline
Sorry to trouble you again but the baptisms in Llanfihangel Abercowin are
1813 - 1875 and Jonah Jones says c 1796 on all the censuses. Do you have
anything earlier? On the search engine the earliest Jonah Jones is 1825.
I have search for his birth/baptism and also death on the IGI and nothing
comes up. I have his marriage on the 29th Sept 1825 at St. Peter's
Carmarthen and even this is not on the IGI or on the CFHS website - I got it
originally from Carmarthen archives along with a load of children baptised
in various independent churchs and also at St. Peter's most of which are in
the CFHS baptisms.
I also have a brother (I think) called Thomas Jones born Llandefeilog c1797
and I cannot find him in the church baptisms. I suppose of course they
could have been baptised in a different place to their birth.
I cannot find Jonah on the 1881 census. On the 1871 census he puts his
birthplace as Llanfihangel whereas before he puts it down as Llanfihangel
Abercowin.
I think I did the Lammas Street transcriptions?!
Any ideas?
thanks
Diana

Hi Diana
Baptisms for Lammas Street are supposedly on the IGI from 1792, have you
checked on the online indexes as we have indexed that chapel .....unless
we
indexed the later ones to 1837...
St Peters graveyard was not used much from the 1850's as it was full, St
David's took over the burials .......if non-conformist maybe he is buried
in
the Town cemetary, there are records for that with the council I believe.
I
don't think that Lammas street chapel has a graveyard.
regards Pauline
