Subject: [CMN-L] Phoebe Griffiths/Thomas
Hi Jon,
I've found your Phoebe Griffiths/Thomas in all the census's from 1841 -
1901, except 1861 which is missing. She is in Wain farm, Backe, St Clears in
1841 with Benjamin Griffiths, but no relationship is given. She is still
there in 1851 with her husband Henry Thomas, who is born in Carew,
Pembrokeshire. ( I think in 1871 it is Sageston which is close to Carew).
Wain farm is now Waun farm. Backe is a small hamlet between St Clears and
Llanddowror.
I think I have Phoebe's christening at Bethlehem Independent Chapel,
Pwlltrap, St Clears - 8th March 1816, daug of Thomas and Margaret Griffiths.
Phoebe married Henry Thomas in June qtr 1844 in Carmarthen Reg Dist. The big
coincidence is the other two names on the same page - John Saer and Lydia
Evans - my GG Grandparents. I wonder if they knew your relations as John
Saer was from Pwlltrap, and also baptised at Bethlehem Chapel.
I will send the scans seperately.
I live about 20 mins drive from St Clears, and know the area fairly well as
my ancestors are scattered all around the area.
19 degrees C is a nice summers day here, not mid winter!!!
Regards,
Elizabeth
