I know that quite a few people are researching Laugharne so I am giving the
extracts from 'Bert Rawlins' book 'The Parish Churches and Non-conformist

1800

INDEPENDENTS
Providence
Cause began: People from this area were worshiping at Pal mawr before 1700
along with those who built Henllan Chapel. The man who lived at Pal mawr
died in 1696 and part of those who worshipped there moved to The Moor between
St Clears and Laugharne. This place was very inconvenient for those living
in the neighborhood of Laugharne, so they moved the cause to the town in the
last past of 1749 and built a chapel.
Chapels: 1752; 1809; 1850
Location: King Street, village and parish of Laugharne
Branch of: Henllan Chapel, Henllan Amgoed parish; connected with Bethlehem
St Clears from 1790-1825
Records Available: 1. births and baptisms, 1825-37, PRO, London RG4/4015
(GS828112) IGI. 2. see Bethlehem and Henllan.
Moravians
Chapel
Cause began: preaching occurred here as early as 1753. A society was formed
in 1770

Pendine parish.
Location: Laugharne praish until 1810, then Pendine after this.
Branch of: Moravian Chapel, St Thomas Parish, Haverfordwest, Pembs
Records Available: See Moravian Chapel, Haverfordwest.
Wesleyan Methodists
Chapel
Cause began: Sources are not clear as to when a society was formed here.
John Wesley passed through this village more than once, but there is no
indication that he preached here. It is likely there were members here
earlier than 1800.
Chapels: 1810
Location: Newbridge, near the Cors, town and parish of Laugharne
Branch of: part of the Carmarthen English Circuit.
