Subject: [Cmn-L] Davies & Mainwaring
1. One of the CFHS listers is researching Mainwaring lines, perhaps we can
connect this line with theirs. We also have research on the Davies family
(below) The Davies and the Mainwarings are related through marriage.
Cousin
Kay was able to uncover the following about these two families, they
are
related and both immigrated to the US in the 1880s. If anyone has links to
either or both families, we have extensive data on both families here in
America.
2. The Rev. Mr. Davies served as pastor at the Siloah Chapel in Llanelly
before emmigrating. Does anyone have any info on this chapel and does it
still exist?
3. The Mainwarings may have been know as Mandry in Wales.
4. The last person on the list (below) is NOT related to either the Davies
or the Mainwarings. What caught my eye is occupation, "Hair Dresser (an
unusual occupation for 1881?) and Publican". I assume that a "Publican" is
a
commissioned tax collector.
Is that correct?
