After the Westminster elections in 1818,Mr.John Stockdale,a bookseller of
Pall Mall,declared his intention to publish a list of voters and how they
voted. This provoked a flurry of indignant and hostile letters.
Mr.Stokdale,

If you or any other blackguard,dare to publish what you propose doing;viz.
the names of the Westminister electors,it shall be the worst job you every
did.I,for one,swear,that on the first opportunity,it will put you to death;
and rely upon it,that I am but one among many who have sworn to perform what
will be no more than act of common justice.
You deserve to die as it is,and if you proceed in the above undertaking,die
and be dammed you certainly shall.
