According to the Genweb's perpetual calendar, 1 June 1855 was a FRIDAY.

Pauline,
Nice to see you are moving on from Pen-bre| Llanelli to Llandeilo not
following me around are you:-)
As you might recollect I was looking for a Cefn Tiresgob I found that with
the help of the Llandeilo library and the Dyfed Archaeological Trust Ltd
who I might add are based in Llandeilo.
The place is now derelict but is mentioned in the book "Historic
Carmarthenshire Homes and their Families" by Francis Jones. It is just up
the Talley road on the left hand side coming of the A40 going towards
Talley. My forebears must have been tenant farmers there in the 1790s.
A little ditty, maybe someone can help me with it; it's the place I am
looking for primarily: background first.
My ggg grandfather, Frederick Evans, died in June 1855 according to the
inscriptions on the flyleaves of two books I have recovered from
Australia, in his daughters fair hand, 1 June 1855 but according to the
Carms Registrar 10 June 1855, got them to recheck it. Can anybody tell me
what day of the week 1 June 1855 was; the inscription in the book says
Sunday.
Further Frederick was a farmer from "Ynys y Gwaelod" is there any kind
lister out there who knows where Ynys y Gwaelod is?
Must admit it is only recently that it dawned on me how important the
Llandeilo Fawr region is in the history of Carmarthenshire: three castles:
Dinefwr, Dryslwyn and Carreg Cennen and the connection with the
"Deheubarth" period and of course Golden Grove is just down the road.
Best wishes to everyone.
Diolch
Rhodri
By the way Pauline when I was in Llandeilo last Saturday I went into the
Tourist Office enquiring if they had a list of cemeteries in the area;
obviously they didn't but they did produce a booklet "Tracing Your
Ancestors" published by the Welsh Tourist Board and dated 01 February
2000. There is no mention of the Carms FHS in the index of Family History
Societies! Presumably you have a copy?
